From your desktop click onto the START icon.
Double click onto the CONTROL PANEL.
Double click onto NETWORK CONNECTIONS.
Double click onto CREATE A NEW CONNECTION.
The NEW CONNECTION WIZARD should now be on your screen.
Click Next
Choose CONECT TO THE INTERNET
Click Next
Choose SET UP MY INTERNET CONNECTION MANUALLY
Click Next
Choose CONNECT USING A DIAL UP MODEM.
Click Next
Type IGS for the name of your ISP.
Click Next
Type the phone number for IGS in your City
Click Next
Enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD in the corresponding boxes.
Check ALL three checkboxes below
Click Next
Click FINISH to complete the internet setup and save the new settings.
Go into your Control Panel under Network Connections right click on your IGS connection and go to properties. Click on the Networking tab and then the settings button. The only box you want to be checked is the first one Enable LCP Extensions
Click OK until youre out, Close up all your windows until you are back at your desktop.
Double click your shortcut to IGS.
Click onto the CONNECT button to log yourself into IGS.
From your desktop double click onto the MY COMPUTER icon.
Double click onto DIAL-UP NETWORKING.
Double click onto MAKE NEW CONNECTION.
Type a name for the computer you are dialing, remove the words MY CONNECTION, and enter IGS.
Click NEXT.
In the area code enter 613.
In the telephone number enter (IGS Dial-up number)
In the country code, select CANADA (1).
Click NEXT.
Click FINISH.
You will now see your IGS icon.
Click once on your IGS icon to highlight it.
Click onto the FILE menu at the top, and click onto PROPERTIES.
You will see the area code, telephone number, and country code.
Under the country code you will see a checkbox beside Use area code and country code. Remove the checkmark.
Click onto the SERVER TYPES tab at the top.
TCP/IP is the only option that is to be checked.
Remove any other checkmarks.
Click OK at the bottom right.
Click once on your IGS icon to highlight it.
Click onto the FILE menu at the top, and click onto CREATE SHORTCUT.
A dialogue box will appear stating that Windows cannot create a shortcut here, would you like it to be placed on the desktop instead.
Click YES.
Close up all your windows until you are back at your desktop.
Double click onto your shortcut to IGS.
Enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD.
Click onto the CONNECT button to log yourself into IGS.
Click the Start button, then click Run.
Type inetwiz, then click OK. This will start the Internet Connection Wizard.
Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually.
Click Next.
On the "Setting up your Internet connection" screen, select I connect through a phone line and a modem.
Click Next.
On the "Internet account connection information" screen, enter the IGS dialup number for your area. Please ensure the number you enter is a local call for you.
If you are in an area that requires 10-digit dialing, place the area code before the dialup number in the Telephone Number field (not in the Area Code field). Do not enter a 1. Click Next
On the "Internet Account Logon Information" screen:
In the User Name field, enter your username.
In the Password field, enter your password.
In the Connection Name field, remove what is there and type IGS.
Click Next.
On the "Set Up Your Internet Mail Account" screen, click Yes.
Click Next.
You may or may not see a screen asking whether you would like to create a new Internet mail account or use an existing Internet mail account. If you do, select Create a new Internet mail account.
Click Next.
In the Display Name field, enter your name the way you would like it to appear when you send e-mail.
Click Next.
In the E-mail address field, enter your IGS email address.
Click Next.
On the "E-mail server names" screen:
For My incoming mail server is a [ ] server, make sure POP3 is selected.
For Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server, enter: host.city.igs.net
For Outgoing mail (SMTP) server, enter: host.gta.igs.net
Click Next.
On the "Internet Mail Logon" screen:
Account name will already be filled in based on the email address you entered. If your login name is different from the first part of your email address, remove what is there and type your login name.
For Password, enter your email account password.
If you would like to have Outlook Express remember your passsword, check the box labeled Remember password.
Click Next.
Uncheck the box labeled "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish."
Click Finish.
That part is finished. Now...
Now, click your Start button, click Settings, then click Dial-Up Networking.
In Dial-Up Networking, double-click on the IGS icon.
Click the Properties button.
Click on the Networking tab.
Uncheck all boxes except for TCP/IP.
Click OK.
You're done! Your computer is now configured to connect to IGS. To connect, either click the Connect button on the "Connect To:" screen, or launch an Internet application (such as Internet Explorer for web browsing or Outlook Express for email), and you will be prompted to connect.
